Welcome to Ascend Yoga ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience using our mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our yoga and wellness mobile application.

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Ascend Yoga App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

We may collect the following information that you voluntarily provide:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Profile information: age, experience level, and yoga preferences
  • User-generated content: custom routines, saved flows, and bookmarked poses
  • Communications: messages you send to us through in-app support or email

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we may automatically collect:

  • Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
  • Usage data: features accessed, session duration, poses completed, streaks, and mindful minutes
  • Log data: access times, pages viewed, app crashes, and system activity
  • Analytics data: aggregated and anonymized usage statistics to improve app performance

2.3 Health and Fitness Data

Ascend Yoga may collect health and fitness-related data, including yoga session duration, workout frequency, and activity streaks. This data is used solely to provide you with a personalized yoga experience, track your progress, and improve our services. We do not sell or share health and fitness data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

If you connect the App to Apple HealthKit, we may read and/or write fitness data to HealthKit with your explicit permission. Data obtained from HealthKit is not used for advertising, marketing, or shared with third parties. HealthKit data is not stored on our servers unless necessary to provide core app functionality.

2.4 Information We Do Not Collect

Ascend Yoga does not collect:

  • Precise geolocation data (GPS)
  • Financial or payment information (handled by Apple/Google)
  • Contacts, photos, or camera data
  • Advertising identifiers for the purpose of tracking across third-party apps

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • App Functionality: To provide and maintain the App, including personalized yoga recommendations, pose libraries, and progress tracking
  • Product Personalization: To customize your experience based on your skill level, preferences, and practice history
  • Analytics: To understand how users interact with the App and improve our features and content
  • Communication: To send you relevant notifications about your streaks, goals, and App updates (with your consent)
  • Customer Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide technical assistance
  • Safety and Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues

We do not use your data for targeted advertising. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Data Sharing

We may share your information with the following categories of third parties, who are required to protect your data consistent with this Privacy Policy:

Service Providers: We work with trusted service providers who assist us in operating the App, including cloud hosting (e.g., Firebase/Google Cloud), analytics (e.g., anonymized usage analytics), and crash reporting. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to use it only for the services we request.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Ascend Yoga, our users, or others.

Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We do not share user data with advertising networks, data brokers, or any third party for the purpose of targeted advertising or tracking.

5. Tracking and App Tracking Transparency

Ascend Yoga does not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or ad measurement purposes. We do not use the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) for tracking.

In compliance with Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, if we ever need to track user data across third-party apps or websites in the future, we will request your explicit permission through the ATT prompt before doing so. You can change your tracking preferences at any time in your device settings under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Account data is retained for the duration of your active account
  • Usage and analytics data may be retained in anonymized form for up to 24 months
  • If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access and Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you in a structured, machine-readable format.

Correction: You can update or correct your personal information through the App's profile settings or by contacting us.

Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. You may initiate account deletion directly within the App under Profile > Account Settings > Delete Account, or by contacting us at the email address below. We will process your request within 30 days.

Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process personal data, you may withdraw consent at any time. This will not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal.

Opt-Out of Notifications: You can opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings or the App's notification preferences.

Restrict Processing: You can request that we restrict the processing of your personal data under certain circumstances as provided by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Ascend Yoga is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.

9. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, secure authentication protocols, and regular security audits.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence. If we transfer your data outside of your jurisdiction, we will ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission or other legally recognized mechanisms.

13. Third-Party SDKs and Services

The App may integrate the following third-party SDKs or services. Each provider has their own privacy policy governing their use of data:

  • Firebase (Google): Authentication, cloud storage, analytics, and crash reporting
  • Apple HealthKit: Fitness data integration (with your explicit consent)
  • RevenueCat or StoreKit: Subscription and in-app purchase management

We carefully vet all third-party SDKs and require that they meet our privacy standards. We do not integrate SDKs that engage in unauthorized data collection or tracking.

14. Privacy Manifests and Nutrition Labels

In compliance with Apple's requirements, our App includes privacy manifests that accurately declare the data types collected by both our code and any integrated third-party SDKs. The App Store privacy nutrition labels on our product page accurately reflect our data collection practices.

We regularly review and update our privacy manifests and nutrition labels to ensure they remain accurate and consistent with our actual data practices.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
